Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon depending on the application. They are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, then refined with a heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with Molybdenum Bisulphite for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion, doubling the coating durability. This is a GRADE C, 57.96mm single ring piston.
