Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon depending on the application. The pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quenching in hot water. Machining is performed using CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction. A new Phosphate Coating, developed from Formula One technology, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion and durability for the Molybdenum Coating. Piston diameter is 57.94mm. This is a single ring piston.
