Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content depending on the application. Pistons are produced via gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is performed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness and surface porosity for superior Molybdenum Coating adhesion and durability. This specific piston is grade B, 54.20mm.
