Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex (low expansion) aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content, depending on the application. They are produced using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a heat treatment process in an automatic implant with hot water quenching. Machining is performed using advanced CNC machines and diamond tooling to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A newer Phosphate Coating, developed from Formula One engine technology, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion for enhanced durability. This piston has a 66.35mm bore size and is a twin-ring design.
