Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content depending on the application. Pistons are produced using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes. Material structure is refined using automatic hi-tech Heat Treatment with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines, software, and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion of the Molybdenum Coating, doubling coating durability. This is a Grade A 66.34mm twin ring piston.
