Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon, depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by a heat treatment process for aluminum alloys. Machining is completed using CNC machines and diamond tools, allowing for specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating offers increased hardness, surface porosity, and superior adhesion and durability compared to the Molybdenum Coating. This piston has a bore of 55.95mm.
