KTM EXC 200 1998-2016 GRADE B 63.95mm TWIN RING PISTON
Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% Silicon content depending on the application. They are produced using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, with material structure refined by advanced Heat Treatment in an automatic HT implant. Machining is performed using state-of-the-art CNC machines and diamond tooling for specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction, and a newer Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, surface porosity, and enhanced Molybdenum Coating durability. This is a GRADE B 63.95mm twin ring piston.

FULL DESCRIPTION
Vertex Grade B Twin Ring Piston
Engineered for high performance and reliability, the Vertex Grade B twin ring piston is designed to meet the rigorous demands of your engine. Vertex utilizes advanced manufacturing processes to ensure every piston delivers optimal power and longevity, making it an ideal choice for maintenance and performance upgrades.
Advanced Materials and Manufacturing
Vertex pistons are crafted from exotic Low-Ex (low expansion) silicon-charged aluminium alloys. Depending on the specific application, these alloys contain 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content to minimize thermal expansion and maintain consistent clearance. Each piston is produced using either gravity casting or hydraulic forging, then refined through a state-of-the-art automated heat treatment process to improve material structure and durability.
Precision Engineering and Coatings
Every Vertex piston is machined on high-precision CNC equipment using diamond tooling to achieve exact surface finishes. To enhance engine longevity and performance, these pistons feature a multi-layer coating system:
- Molybdenum Bisulphite Coating: A specialized black coating applied to aid during the break-in process and significantly reduce internal friction.
- Phosphate Coating: Borrowing technology from Formula One, the all-over phosphate coating provides a slight increase in surface hardness and creates a light porosity that ensures superior adhesion of the molybdenum coating, doubling its durability.
Key Features
- Grade B specification with a 63.95mm diameter
- Twin ring design for optimized compression and sealing
- Rigorous manual and automatic quality control inspections
- Low expansion alloy composition for consistent thermal performance
