Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon, depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by hot water quench. Machining is performed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness and light surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability. This piston is 95.98mm in diameter with a 12.5:1 compression ratio.
