Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon. The pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging and refined with a heat treatment process. Machining is completed using CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. All Vertex pistons undergo rigorous quality control. The pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new, all-over Phosphate Coating has been introduced to increase hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This piston has a 95.97mm bore and 12.5:1 compression ratio.
