Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% Silicon, depending on the application. Pistons are created using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by a heat treatment in an automatic implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is performed with the latest CNC machines, software, and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. Vertex also offers a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion of the Molybdenum Coating, doubling coating durability. This piston is Grade B, 95.97mm, with a 13:1 compression ratio.
