Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quenching in hot water. Machining is performed with the latest CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, providing increased hardness, surface porosity, and superior adhesion and durability for the Molybdenum Coating. This piston is Grade C, 95.98mm, with a high compression ratio of 13.2:1.
