Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by a high-tech heat treatment with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is performed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A newer Phosphate Coating, developed from Formula One engine technology, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity for superior adhesion, and double the coating durability compared to the Molybdenum Coating. This piston is Grade B, 95.97mm, with standard compression of 12.7:1.
