Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon, depending on the application. They are produced using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, with material structure refined through automatic high-tech heat treatment including solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is done with the latest CNC machines and diamond tools, allowing for specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating, developed from Formula One engine technology, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion qualities for the Molybdenum Coating, doubling its durability. This piston has a bore of 77.95mm and a compression ratio of 14.1:1.
