Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminum alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon. They are produced using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by a heat treatment process in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by hot water quench. Machining is done using the latest CNC machines and diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. All Vertex pistons undergo manual and automatic quality control. They are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction. A new Phosphate Coating, developed from Formula One engine technology, offers increased hardness, surface porosity, and superior adhesion for the Molybdenum Coating, doubling its durability. This piston has a 77.97mm bore and a 14.2:1 compression ratio.
