Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging. The material structure is refined using a heat treatment process in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using CNC machines and diamond tools, allowing for specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability of the Molybdenum Coating. This piston has a bore of 76.98mm and a compression ratio of 14.3:1.
