Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex (low expansion) Silicon aluminium alloys. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes and refined using a hi-tech Heat Treatment. The machining process uses the latest CNC machines and software, along with diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes a rigorous manual and automatic quality control process. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction. A new Phosphate Coating has also been introduced which offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion qualities to the Molybdenum Coating, extending durability. This piston is Grade A, 76.95mm, with a 14.3:1 compression ratio.
