Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content depending on the application. They are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging and then heat treated in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. The machining is completed using CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion qualities for extended durability. This piston has a 76.96mm bore diameter and a 13.9:1 compression ratio.
