Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content, depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, with material structure refined through a high-tech Heat Treatment process involving solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. Vertex also offers a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion of the Molybdenum Coating, extending coating durability. This piston is 46.93mm in size.
