Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content depending on the application. They are produced using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes and refined with a high-tech heat treatment. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction, and a new Phosphate Coating is available for increased hardness, surface porosity, and enhanced Molybdenum Coating adhesion, doubling durability. This twin ring piston has a bore of 66.38mm.
