They are produced using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by a hi-tech heat treatment with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is done using the latest CNC machines, software, and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid in break-in and reduce friction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness and superior adhesion qualities for the Molybdenum Coating, doubling its durability. This is a +1.00mm oversize, 54.95mm replica piston with a single ring.
