Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content depending on the application. They are produced using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a heat treatment process. Machining is done with CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes quality control. Vertex pistons feature a Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction, and a newer Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, surface porosity, and durability. This is a Grade A 77.98mm race piston. Rings are not included and OEM rings should be used.
