Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content depending on the application. The pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, and the material structure is refined using a hi-tech heat treatment. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools. A special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating is applied to aid break-in and reduce friction. Vertex also offers a new Phosphate Coating which increases hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability.
