Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% Silicon content depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, with material structure refined by advanced heat treatment. Machining is performed using the latest CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new, all over Phosphate Coating has also been introduced, offering increased hardness and superior adhesion qualities for extended coating durability. This specific piston is Grade D, 46.97mm, flat top.
