Vertex pistons are manufactured using a special 12% silicon-charged Low-Ex aluminium alloy. They are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, followed by a high-tech heat treatment in an automatic implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software, along with diamond tools, to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. Vertex also offers a new, all-over Phosphate Coating with increased hardness and surface porosity for superior adhesion and durability. This piston is Grade D with a 46.97mm bore and a 12-degree piston pin offset.
