Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18% or 21% silicon content depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, with material structure refined by heat treatment in an automatic implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using CNC machines and diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with Molybdenum Bisulphite for break-in and friction reduction, and a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, surface porosity, and superior adhesion qualities, doubling coating durability. This piston has a Grade B rating, 77.97mm bore size, and 14.7:1 high compression.
