Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex silicon aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging. Material structure is refined using a high-tech heat treatment process with solubilization by quenching in hot water. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines, software, and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. Vertex has also introduced a new Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion qualities, extending coating durability. This piston is Grade A, 77.96mm, STD Compression, and 14.4:1.
