Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon, depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging. Material structure is refined through a high-tech heat treatment process. Machining is completed using the latest CNC machines and software with diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Pistons are coated with Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion, extending coating durability. Piston diameter is 53.96mm.
