Gas Gas FSE 450 2003-2004 Grade B 94.96mm STD Compression
Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon content depending on the application. Pistons are produced using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is performed using the latest CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating is also available, offering increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion qualities to the Molybdenum Coating, doubling its durability. Every Vertex piston is machined to exact tolerances using state-of-the-art CNC technology and diamond-tipped tooling to ensure a perfect surface finish. To maximize engine efficiency and longevity, this piston features dual-layer coating technology:
- Molybdenum Bisulphite Coating: A specialized black coating that assists during the initial piston break-in period and significantly reduces friction against the cylinder wall during operation.
- Phosphate Coating: Inspired by Formula One engine technology, this all-over coating increases surface hardness and provides light surface porosity. This enhances the adhesion of the Molybdenum coating, effectively doubling its durability.
