Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminum alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon depending on the application. Pistons are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging, then heat-treated with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is done with CNC machines, software, and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons have a Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion qualities, doubling coating durability. This Grade C piston has 15.1:1 compression and a bore of 87.98mm.
