Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon depending on the application. They are made using gravity cast or hydraulic forging processes, then refined through heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with solubilization by hot water quench. Machining is performed using the latest CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating, developed following Formula One engine advancements, provides increased hardness, surface porosity, and superior adhesion qualities for the Molybdenum Coating, doubling coating durability.
