Vertex pistons are manufactured using Low-Ex aluminium alloys with 12%, 18%, or 21% silicon depending on application. They are produced using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment in an automatic HT implant with hot water solubilization. Machining is performed with the latest CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons feature a special black Molybdenum Bisulphite coating for break-in and friction reduction, and a newer Phosphate Coating for increased hardness, surface porosity, and superior adhesion of the Molybdenum Coating, doubling its durability. This specific piston has a 71.95mm bore.
