Pistons are made using gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by heat treatment in an automatic implant with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is performed using CNC machines and diamond tools to achieve specific surface finishes. Each Vertex piston undergoes manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating for break-in and friction reduction. A new Phosphate Coating, similar to Formula One engine developments, offers increased hardness, light surface porosity, and superior adhesion of the Molybdenum Coating, doubling its durability. Designed for riders who demand consistent power and durability, this component is manufactured using advanced aluminium alloys to ensure optimal thermal stability and structural integrity throughout the entire powerband.\n\n### Advanced Manufacturing and Material Quality\n\nVertex utilizes exotic Low-Ex silicon-charged aluminium alloys to minimize thermal expansion, maintaining tight tolerances even under extreme racing conditions. Each piston undergoes a sophisticated heat treatment process, including solubilization and quenching, to refine the internal material structure for maximum strength. CNC machining and diamond tooling are employed to achieve precise surface finishes tailored to high-performance engine requirements.\n\n### Performance Coatings\n\nTo reduce internal engine friction and assist during the initial break-in period, this piston features a specialized Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating. This is further enhanced by an innovative phosphate coating that increases surface hardness and porosity. This combination provides superior adhesion for the Molybdenum layer, significantly extending the durability and lifespan of the piston coating.\n\n### Key Features\n\n \n- 51.96mm Grade B piston size.\n \n- Crafted from premium Low-Ex silicon-charged aluminium alloys.\n \n- Advanced heat treatment process for superior structural integrity.\n \n- High-precision CNC machining for exact tolerances.\n \n- Molybdenum Bisulphite coating to reduce friction and improve break-in.\n \n- Phosphate coating for increased hardness and enhanced coating adhesion.\n \n- Subjected to rigorous manual and automatic quality control inspections.","weightGrams":null,"fitments":[],"collections":[],"links":{"page":"https://www.2brosparts.com/products/ktm-sx-105-2004-2017-grade-b-5196mm","buyOneNow":"https://www.2brosparts.com/api/agent/checkout/GB/93bf1d0e5dc3:1","basketWithThis":"https://www.2brosparts.com/api/agent/basket/GB/93bf1d0e5dc3:1"}},"market":{"country":"GB","countryName":"United Kingdom","locale":"en-gb","currency":"GBP","exchangeRateFromGbp":1,"pricesIncludeUkVat":true,"checkoutTax":null,"delivery":[{"name":"Standard","description":"Orders £15.00–£59.99 · 2–4 business days","carrier":null,"estimatedDays":"2–4 business days","price":{"amount":4.99,"formatted":"£4.99"},"free":false,"minimumOrder":{"amount":0,"formatted":"£0.00","gbp":0},"weightGrams":null},{"name":"Standard","description":"Orders £60.00 and up · 2–4 business days","carrier":null,"estimatedDays":"2–4 business days","price":{"amount":0,"formatted":"£0.00"},"free":true,"minimumOrder":{"amount":60,"formatted":"£60.00","gbp":60},"weightGrams":null}],"storeUrl":"https://www.2brosparts.com"},"navigate":{"start":"https://www.2brosparts.com/api/agent","search":"https://www.2brosparts.com/api/agent/search/GB/{words+joined+with+plus}"},"howToBuy":{"summary":"Build a basket for the shopper and give them one checkout link.
