Pistons are manufactured using either a gravity cast or hydraulic forging process. The material structure is refined using a hi-tech Heat Treatment process with solubilization by quench in hot water. Machining is completed using CNC machines and software with diamond tools, achieving specific surface finishes. Every Vertex piston undergoes rigorous manual and automatic quality control. Vertex pistons are coated with a special Molybdenum Bisulphite black coating to aid break-in and reduce friction. Engineered for durability and precise tolerances, this component is designed to provide optimal compression and reliable power delivery for your motorcycle engine.\n\n### Advanced Material Technology\n\nVertex pistons are manufactured using specialized Low-Ex (low expansion) silicon-charged aluminium alloys. The manufacturing process utilizes either gravity casting or hydraulic forging, followed by a state-of-the-art heat treatment. This process refines the material structure to ensure superior strength and resistance to the high thermal demands of competition riding.\n\n### Precision Engineering and Durability\n\nEach piston is machined using high-tech CNC equipment and diamond tooling to achieve exact surface finishes. To enhance longevity and break-in performance, these pistons feature a dual-layer coating system:\n\n- Molybdenum Bisulphite Coating: A specialized black coating that significantly reduces friction and assists during the initial break-in period.\n\n- Phosphate Coating: Drawing from Formula One engine development, this coating increases surface hardness and provides light porosity. This improves the adhesion of the molybdenum layer, effectively doubling the durability of the piston skirt coating.\n\n### Key Features\n\n- Oversize specification: +1.60mm (67.95mm bore)\n\n- Twin ring design for improved sealing and stability\n\n- High-strength, heat-treated aluminium alloy construction\n\n- Advanced friction-reducing surface treatments\n\n- Rigorous manual and automatic quality control testing","weightGrams":null,"fitments":[],"collections":[],"links":{"page":"https://www.2brosparts.com/products/yamaha-yz-250-1999-2022-160mm-oversize-6795mm-twin-ring-piston","buyOneNow":"https://www.2brosparts.com/api/agent/checkout/GB/663ba067c27a:1","basketWithThis":"https://www.2brosparts.com/api/agent/basket/GB/663ba067c27a:1"}},"market":{"country":"GB","countryName":"United Kingdom","locale":"en-gb","currency":"GBP","exchangeRateFromGbp":1,"pricesIncludeUkVat":true,"checkoutTax":null,"delivery":[{"name":"Standard","description":"Orders £15.00–£59.99 · 2–4 business days","carrier":null,"estimatedDays":"2–4 business days","price":{"amount":4.99,"formatted":"£4.99"},"free":false,"minimumOrder":{"amount":0,"formatted":"£0.00","gbp":0},"weightGrams":null},{"name":"Standard","description":"Orders £60.00 and up · 2–4 business days","carrier":null,"estimatedDays":"2–4 business days","price":{"amount":0,"formatted":"£0.00"},"free":true,"minimumOrder":{"amount":60,"formatted":"£60.00","gbp":60},"weightGrams":null}],"storeUrl":"https://www.2brosparts.com"},"navigate":{"start":"https://www.2brosparts.com/api/agent","search":"https://www.2brosparts.com/api/agent/search/GB/{words+joined+with+plus}"},"howToBuy":{"summary":"Build a basket for the shopper and give them one checkout link.
